Ecopack and the Third Communication On Progress: Our Ongoing Commitment to Sustainability 

We are very proud to announce the submission of our third Communication On Progress (COP) under the United Nations Global Compact. This communication marks an important step in our journey of corporate social responsibility and sustainability, especially in the year of publishing our first official sustainability report according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. 

What is the United Nations Global Compact? 

The United Nations Global Compact is the world’s largest strategic corporate citizenship initiative. Launched in 2000, it aims to promote a sustainable global economy that respects human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption efforts. Conceived by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, the Global Compact invites companies to contribute to a more equitable and sustainable globalization. 

The initiative is based on ten fundamental principles derived from international documents such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. These principles cover four main areas: 

1. Human Rights: Promote and respect human rights within their spheres of influence and ensure they are not complicit in human rights abuses. 

1. Labor: Uphold the freedom of association, eliminate forced and child labor, and combat discrimination in employment. 

1. Environment: Adopt a precautionary approach to environmental challenges, promote greater environmental responsibility, and encourage the development of environmentally friendly technologies. 

1. Anti-Corruption: Combat corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery. 

The Importance of the Communication On Progress (COP) 

The COP is an annual document through which companies participating in the Global Compact report on their progress in implementing the ten fundamental principles. This reporting tool is essential for maintaining transparency and dialogue with stakeholders, as well as facilitating the sharing of best practices on a global scale. 

For Ecopack, the COP represents a commitment to transparency and accountability, concretely demonstrating our efforts in terms of sustainability and corporate citizenship. Additionally, our adherence to the Global Compact allows us to be part of an international network of over 20,000 companies from 167 countries, promoting collaboration and sustainable innovation. 

Our Sustainability Journey 

This year, the submission of our third COP coincides with the publication of our first official sustainability report, drafted according to GRI standards. This report represents another fundamental step in our sustainability strategy, offering a transparent and detailed view of our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. 

Drafting the sustainability report according to GRI standards has allowed us to adopt a systematic and rigorous approach to measuring and communicating our ESG performance. This not only strengthens our transparency with stakeholders but also helps us identify areas for improvement and set clear goals for the future.
